Meet Beautiful Disaster Holly - A Survivor of Domestic Violence & Molestation
Hi, my name is Holly and up until 2011 my life was a huge struggle. I learned from an early age that I was not in control of my own life (or that’s what I thought anyway).
Let me take you back to where it all began, from a very young age I witnessed my mom in a domestic violent relationship with my dad. My mom would get beat for everyone’s mistakes to not dressing the way my dad wanted her too. I witness my dad doing horrific things to my mom (including my dad pulling a gun on her). That was one of the things I endured, well all of this was going on a relative was sexually molesting me, it started when I was 4. I never said anything because of being afraid of what would happen to my mom or me. Finally, at the age of 13 I left and never went back, I found myself getting into drugs to become numb from the pain that I felt, and I was homeless most of the time.
Finally, at the age of 18 I thought I met my prince, but it ended up being my nightmare. We had 3 children and we were together 21 long abusive years. He would beat me and the children and force me to have sex with him. Until February 2010, when he finally kicked me out. I left with nothing but the clothes on my back and my kids. I thought I would never survive without him, because of him telling me for 21 yrs. that I was worthless and would never amount to anything. I remember laying on the bed in the hotel room and telling myself I can either lay here and feel sorry for myself, or I can get up and fight for the life I want.
I fought and in 2011 my divorce was final, and I got a job to where I could support myself and get my own place. I was a battle, but I did it and it was well worth it. I went back to school and June of this year I will be graduating with my AA and high school diploma.
I just want every woman to know that they can accomplish anything they want to, and I want to empower as many women I can with my story. We are all beautiful and we all deserve the opportunity to become the best that we can become.
I am a beautiful disaster and I hold that title with pride through all my accomplishments!
