What makes you a Beautiful Disaster?
From trials to triumph, I have risen above every challenge thrown my way, and I will continue to do so in the name of social justice and equity.

Why do you identify with the Beautiful Disaster Brand?
Currently, as a recovering human trafficking survivor, I can’t really afford the items, but I relate to the brand. I am still in significant trauma therapy and work at a group home for Youth in Recovery, as well as an Aboriginal safe house. But because I’m single, I am pretty much working to support myself. At least I’m no longer being exploited or extorted at this point in my life.

Tell us your Beautiful Disaster story.
I am a proud Saulteaux Métis woman (scoop survivor and survivor of 20 years of international human trafficking/mule) with five beautiful children (and one grandchild). I have lived experience with systemic matters and challenges. I am bilingual (French and English) and have extensive experience working within the non-profit social services sector. I completed my diploma in Criminology (Political Science) through Douglas College in 2002 and SFU in 2004. Additional studies have included certificate programs from the Justice Institute of British Columbia in trauma and crisis intervention, investigation and enforcement, collaborative conflict resolution, and I am currently completing the Applied Leadership program.

I am committed to bridging gaps and fostering deeper understanding where clarity is lacking to achieve better outcomes. Earlier this year, I successfully incorporated the nonprofit organization *Indiginuity Solutions Association*, which provides third-party reporting, services, and peer-based, expert-informed support to survivors. I currently work with a nonprofit organization and operate a treatment house and safe house for vulnerable Indigenous youth. I am a passionate learner and seek all opportunities to develop and train as often as possible.

What happened that helped you turn it around?
Finally, the dirty cop Jim Fisher went to jail, and things started to get better for me. Until that happened, life was a nightmare. He was involved in my matters as well as those of other minors.

Name 3 things you’ve done to move closer to happiness.
1. Meditation
2. Healing my relationship with my children
3. Education

What is your favorite Beautiful Disaster collection, past or present, and why?
I like them all and wish I could afford them. They are not accessible to me currently. I’m presenting at the Restorative Justice Conference, and I do a lot of community engagement. Often, someone sponsors an outfit, and I wear it when I am in the community.

Hello, sorry for all you went through. I am Metis and live in Alberta, Canada. You are doing amazing work and are strong. If you would like a hoodie, I would gladly get you one. Just pay it forward to another tribe member. Cheers😊
